Clean-up Project

Clean-up Project

Posted on December 11, 2016

On Saturday, the 3rd of December 2016, Friends of Saddle Mountain (Friends) cleaned up a large trash site on Saddle Mountain. Members of Tonopah Valley High School’s Ambassador club joined Friends and made short work of removing two pick-up loads of construction materials.

During the clean up an immature desert tortoise was discovered in the discarded materials and moved to a sheltered site. We encountered other wildlife including spiders and a lizard. It was a productive and fun morning.

Friends appreciates and thanks the Ambassador Club members and their teacher, Katie Kirby, for all the work they did. Ambassador Club members helping were: Miriam Melendez, Cheyann Glattfelder, Noah Smith, Riley Hodges, Raiyne Penn and Amber Lewis along with Austin Lewis. In the way of thanks the board of Friends of Saddle Mountain has voted unanimously to make these Ambassador Club members Associate members of Friends of Saddle Mountain. We are looking forward to having the new Associate members join in other events on the mountain.
